IRMO - Edith B. “Edie” “Tweety Bird” Tweed was born in Woodbury, NJ on April 29, 1928. She passed away peacefully on April 21, 2017 in Irmo, SC at the age of 89. She moved to South Carolina in 1997 to live with family members. Edie loved her family and church family at Salem United Methodist Church and was a member of Faith Circle and for the past few years, Joy Circle. She enjoyed being a homemaker, doing crafts with friends, and also enjoyed working in the yard. She offered help to anyone who needed her. She liked to make people laugh with her jokes, and was known for her smile and “winks.” Her “mission” to God was making needle point plaques with the name Jesus on them. Hundred of these optical illusion plaques were given out in New Jersey as well as South Carolina. She was predeceased by her spouse, Stuart Tweed. She is survived by the following immediate family: her sons, Gerald Tweed (Julie) and Leslie Tweed (Joan); grandsons, Matthew Tweed (Aimee) and Todd Gardner (Deann); and great-grandchildren, Collin, Amara, Adeline, Grayson, and Riley. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church, Route 6, Irmo, SC 29063.
