Donald “Don" Bashore of West Columbia, South Carolina passed away October 29, 2023, at Lexington Medical Center. He was born on September 9, 1934, in Myerstown, Pennsylvania to Clarence and Pearl Blatt Lausch.
Don was a very dedicated member of Taylor Street Baptist Church, holding the positions of Usher, Trustee and lawn keeper for numerous years. He loved his church and church family. He served several years in the US Air Force and retired from Valleydale Meats. Loving his family and spoiling all the children in his family was on the top of his list of things to do. He always had a smile on his face and was cracking jokes with everyone. His love for his family and wife was never doubted by anyone even after his wife of 62 years went to be with Jesus last year. He was an avid Gamecock, Atlanta Braves and NASCAR fan. In his earlier years he was an avid bowler and spent numerous years being a Saturday morning youth bowling coach. In recent years, he thoroughly enjoyed adult coloring and has completed hundreds of pictures.
Don is survived by his sons; Donny Bashore (Beth) and Jason Bashore. Sisters; Darlene (Lester) Copenhaver of Newmanstown, PA and Jeanette Hafer of Myerstown, PA. Brother-in-law; Larry Ream of Lebanon, PA. Sister-in -law; Jean Keeney of Myerstown, PA. Two grandchildren, Stefanie Hicks (Matthew) and Dustin Bashore. Three great grandchildren, Hailey Hicks, Emma Hicks, and Knox Bashore. Along with his special niece who is like a daughter to him, Crissie Keisler (Kenny) and children: J.T., Maddie and Colt Keisler. He is also survived by his wife’s cousin, Pollie Buff and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Devon Best with Lexington Medical Center along with the nursing staff on the 8th floor, North Tower.
He was preceded in death by: His wife, Barbara Bashore; Parents, Clarence and Pearl Lausch; Brother, Jay Keeney of Myerstown, PA; Sister, Delores Ream of Lebanon, PA.
The family will receive friends at Taylor Street Baptist Church on November 3rd from 12:00 - 1:00. Funeral services will be at Taylor Street Baptist Church on November 3rd at 1:00 with Rev. Dan Rabon and Rev. Sherwood Tidwell officiating. Interment will be at Celestial Memorial Gardens.
