Constance Jane Lengel, 87, beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend to many, passed away on October 24th, 2022, in the presence of loved ones following a brief illness. Connie Davis and her identical twin sister Claire, were born in Thompson, PA on June 1st, 1935 to Dr. Raymond and Mrs. Lena Davis. The Davis twins and their brother Raymond, grew up in the beautiful endless mountains of Susquehanna, PA. Connie graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She then served as a public health nurse and later as a school nurse. Inspired by a love of travel, she paused her early nursing career and took a position as stewardess for TWA. While flying, she met the love of her life, Roger Lengel, who was a pilot for TWA. They married in 1960. Connie and Roger welcomed 2 daughters, Sarah and Melinda (“Lindy”), and were loving and devoted parents. As a close-knit family of 4, they enjoyed many life adventures together. Throughout life, Connie exhibited gratitude and joie de vivre; she loved playing golf, reading books, adventures with grandchildren, enjoying time with family and friends, bird watching, and cheering on Syracuse football and basketball teams. In Connie’s later years, she became a part of the retirement community at Laurel Crest in West Columbia, SC where she was welcomed into a caring community of residents and staff. We will all miss her warm smile, optimism, caring and compassion, and profound love for her family and friends.
Connie is predeceased by Roger Irvin Lengel, her husband of 45 years. She is survived by sister Claire Grace, brother Raymond Davis (Alice Davis), daughters Sarah Lengel Hackman (Scott Hackman) and Melinda Lengel O’Leary (James O’Leary), grandchildren Emily Hackman, Laura Hackman Setlock (Caleb Setlock), Patrick O’Leary, Ryan O’Leary, and Catherine O’Leary.
