Charles Jerry Meetze

On December 29, 2022, Charles unexpectedly left His earthly home. He was the son of Johnny Heber and Mary Dooley Meetze. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Laura Monts Meetze; his daughter, Kim(Tommy) Allnutt; grandson, Connor Reagan Allnutt; sister, Joeanne (Johnny) Barrett; brother, Harold (Kathryn) Meetze. Preceding him in death are his parents, brother Johnny Franklin Meetze; sister Betty Meetze Barrett; nephew Phillip Wayne Barrett. Many nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and great nephews will miss their Uncle Charles very much.

Graduating from Irmo High School in 1966, he spent six years serving in the Army National Guard. Charles worked many years at Central Chevrolet Company of Columbia and ended his work career at the University of South Carolina with the HVAC maintenance crew. He loved being outside, fishing, planting his garden using his beloved tractor. When grandson Connor was little, the two of them would ride on the tractor loving every minute.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at the Mount Olive Lutheran Church Cemetery, located on Lake Murray Boulevard across from Walgreens.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Please dress casually if you so desire.
