Beverly Rawlings DiThomas, 84, entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 2, 2018. A memorial service for her will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, SC. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Born in Syracuse, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Sarah Abbott Blenis. After working for the Federal Government for 33 years, she continued public service in retirement through extensive volunteer work. She was an Honorary Regent of Granby Chapter of the DAR (2004-2006), a senior leader for the CAR, a member of The National Society of Colonial Dames XVII Century, the National Society of Magna Carter Dames, National Society Women Descendants Ancient & Honorable Artillery Co., Robert Burns Society of the Midlands, the National Society of New England Women, and the National Society of the Daughters of the American Colonists. She advocated strongly for our veterans wherever she could by volunteering for the “Stand Down" for the Health Care for Homeless Veterans Program, and the Department of Veteran Affairs. Mrs. DiThomas was also an outstanding genealogist who loved to do research. In addition to extensive research of her own family lineage, she also helped others with their own genealogy initiatives.
Surviving are her daughters, Sarah Angeline “Sally” Pearman, Patsy Hamilton; grandchildren, Jack Hubbs, Jason Hubbs, Chad Hamilton, and Lisa Hamilton. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy and nothing made her happier than to be with them. Also surviving are her extended family in upstate NY. The family would like to thank Tidewater Hospice for their compassionate care. Deepest appreciation is also extended to Ms. Jelissa Causewell for her love and tender care during Mrs. DiThomas’s extended illness.
