IRMO – Benjamin Philip Gfell, 37, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church with burial following at Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel. Born in Lexington, Kentucky he was a son of Timothy Lee and Sheila Kay Hall Gfell. Benjamin graduated from the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Program at Midlands Technical College and worked for Comprehensive Health Services, Inc. for four years in Iraq as a paramedic. He loved working for Newberry County EMS. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. In addition to his parents he is survived by his loving wife, Amy Gfell; daughter, Addison to whom he was so very proud to be her father; brother, Timothy B. Gfell (Julia) of Irmo; paternal grandmother, Edna Gfell of Irmo; maternal grandmother, Patricia Warner of Lexington, Ky.; mother-in-law, Debbie George of Irmo; nephew, Spencer Mullinax of Gaston and step-parents, Dale and Christine Dunn of Keystone Heights, Fla.
