Every memory I have of Barbara is a good one. She was one of the kindest woman you might every meet. I will always think of her with kind warm memories. She was awesome and the world needs more people like Barbara...

Mr. George,

We are so sorry to hear about Miss Barbara's passing. I am so grateful to have had the privilege to work with her and so thankful God crossed our paths. As time went on we (my family) could not help but to respect the friendship we were blessed with as we spent time with the two of you. She is a treasured friend who I will never forget. She was a strong woman full of wisdom and knew exactly what she wanted. She took care of herself and always amazed me with her positive attitude. She will be missed! God Bless your family as I know this is a trying time for you all. We have you in our heart always and in our prayers as the days pass. Love you bunches!

Mom was the kind of person who almost seems to shine. She was just essentially good in a way even strangers could sense. She made friends wherever she went; she was generous, kind, and openminded, never prejudiced or judgmental. She just loved everybody.

Mom used to tell a story that I think explains her attitude. When she was about ten, she and her cousins were playing in an isolated part of the Edisto River when she decided to swim to the far bank alone. But the current was much stronger than she’d expected, she was a small child, and no one was close enough to notice when she started to struggle. Mom realized she might be about to drown, and the only one who could save her was her. So she did. All alone, she pushed through to the opposite bank, grabbed a bunch of reeds, and dragged herself to safety. 

I know that experience was a big turning point in her life because she talked about it so often. I imagine she felt proud at being able to save herself, but I know (because I know Mom) that she also guilty about getting into that situation to begin with. 

That’s the key, I think. Mom had learned that one bad decision can wreck a person’s life, and even the lives of those who know them. Some people who learn that lesson become hardened, but it just made Mom more compassionate. She knew she wasn't a bad person; she’d just made a mistake, and she felt that the same was true for most people. 

Mom faced hardships throughout her life, just like we all do; but she never gave up on herself or anyone else. She always tried to correct mistakes, heal wounds, and love everyone she ran across. 
In fact, the older she grew, the more she learned about how to help and heal. She was one of the wisest people I knew. 

In Mom's final years I felt like she was walking away from us and we had no way to follow. On Christmas Day she walked over the horizon and I can't see her anymore, but I know she’s still there. I can feel her love. Her love still shines like a beacon.

George, I never realized how close my birthday was to Barbara. I was born on January 29, of the same year and I have to admit, she really didn't show her age.  She was quite a lady and she will be missed. 
My thoughts and prayers are with you now and as you know, I really do think I know how difficult this point in your life must be.  Please, lean on me, let me be of help to you in the coming days, I care.

Our sympathy to George and the family. Barbara and George were such good friends at SABC. We enjoyed many good times together in a Sunday School class and I found her to be a loving and caring person. And always that happy smile! She will be missed.

Our Barbara, with her beautiful smile, love of life, caring for others, and devoted Christian wife and mother is now with her Lord and Savior. She always seemed to have a smile for everyone. Barbara was such a beautiful lady in her heart and her soul!  She now rests in peace and suffers no more memory loss.  Barbara ALWAYS had a smile and a hug to offer to her friends.  I worked with Barbara at SC Dept. Of Corrections (SCDC).  After she left, I met her and her wonderful husband, George, who also worked at SCDC,  once again at St. Andrews Baptist Church.  They were a beautiful couple who showed their love for each other and their passion to be together serving the Lord.  George was a loving husband who did all he could do to ensure Barbara had the care she needed daily.  Prayers for George and the family  in the days to come!  Much love ❤️

Barbara was a sweet and treasured friend. We shared many happy times, Mexican meals, books, and talks. She loved being with people and serving others. Her Lord and church were important to her. I shall miss her, but I am happy she’s at home with Jesus.
