Born on May 28th, 1942 in Covington, Kentucky, he was the son of Robert Lee Gibson and Sarah Margaret Gibson. Al worked for Gibson Wine in his early years, served in the Army Reserves in Kentucky, and retired in 2003 after spending nearly 30 years in engineering at General Electric. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father as well as an avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Al was preceded in death by his son, Alvin Eugene Gibson Jr. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Van Dine Gibson, his children, Deborah “Debbie” McIntosh-Tipton, Kevin “Mike” Michael Gibson, and Alexandra Victoria Gibson, his four grandchildren, and his great-granddaughter.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Dunbar Funeral Home - Dutch Fork Chapel, 7600 Woodrow St, Irmo, South Carolina 29063. Following the visitation will be a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Union United Methodist Church, 7582 Woodrow St, Irmo, South Carolina 29063. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
