Scott was born to Henry (Rusty) and Kathy Rye in Wichita Falls, TX on August 18, 1974. He graduated from Hirschi High School in 1992. He attended college at Midwestern State University where he met his wife, Brandi. Scott graduated in 2008 with a Sociology degree. Scott worked for the Department of Child Protective services as helping troubled families was a passion for him. But he found his career at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice at James V Allred where he eventually became the head of supply for the unit. In Allred, he truly found a work family and made lifelong friends.
Scott had his son Dylan at a young age. He always said they grew up together. He took pride in raising Dylan on his own until he married Brandi on June 4, 2004. They now were a family of three. Scott and Brandi struggled with infertility for many years, but in 2015 they decided to become foster parents. They fostered and will always love four beautiful children. Then in 2016 their prayer to have more children and give Dylan a sibling was answered with the adoption of Emma. Their family continued to grow with the adoptions of Vincent and Thomas. Being a loving and devoted husband and father, and PopPop was Scott’s single greatest accomplishment. His children and wife were his whole world.
Scott loved art. He was very creative and loved to draw and paint. He loved comic books, video games, and superheroes. He was a self-proclaimed geek. He was an avid reader and loved to discuss literature with his wife. He loved his extended family. The Rye Clan is a tight knit family unit full of love and support. He also was very close to his in-laws. He adored all his nieces and nephews.
Scott is survived by his wife, Brandi; his son Dylan and wife Kaylan Rye, his sons Vincent and Thomas Rye, his daughter Emma Rye, his three grandchildren Jase, Micah, and Lily Rye, his parents Rusty and Kathy Rye, his parents-in-law Douglas and Tobie Beavers, his brother Eric and wife Gayla Rye, his sister Jackie Rye, his brother-in-law Tom and wife Melissa Beavers, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Floral Heights United Methodist Church on January 9, 2023, at 4:00pm.
