Ruby (Blair) Elliott, 80, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2013 in Wichita Falls after a six month battle with lung cancer. Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, December 26, 2013 in the chapel at First Presbyterian Church of Wichita Falls with Dr. Isaac Butterworth, Pastor, and Chaplain Starkovich Forester, Hospice of Wichita Falls, officiating. Graveside services will follow at Crestview Memorial Park with Shelomi Temple #43 ceremonies, under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1 PM to 2 PM at the church.
Ruby was born January 2, 1933 in Wichita County, Texas to Odas and Opal (Brackeen) Blair. She married Cy Elliott on January 17, 1975 in Wichita Falls. She worked as a bookkeeper for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for many years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Wichita Falls, and of the Daughters of the Nile Shelomi Temple #43 where she was a Past Queen. She was also a member of the Eastern Star where she earned her Advisor Pin and Grandmother Pin. She worked as an Election Judge for Archer County for many years and was an avid bowler. Ruby is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Surviving relatives include three sisters, Wanda Ruby of Senatobia, Mississippi; Laverne Copeland of Odessa, Texas; and Peggy Potter and her husband, Donald of Iowa Park, Texas; one stepdaughter, Robbie Korte and her husband, Joe of Tyler, Texas; two granddaughters, Amanda and Sydney Matlock; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Wichita Falls or to The Shriner’s Childrens Hospital.
