Louise Armstrong Clapp, 93, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2017 in Iowa Park, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at The Prestyn, formerly the First Presbyterian Church of Iowa Park, with Pastor Tim Franks, Faith Baptist Church of Iowa Park and Rev. Will Thomas-Clapp, Westwood Baptist Church, Arlington, Virginia officiating. Graveside services will follow at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park, Texas.
Louise was born June 12, 1924 in Nelson, Georgia to Luther and Myrtle (Gaddis) Armstrong. After high school, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia to work in the World War II effort and met John Clapp, Jr. Louise and John were married in her parents home in Atlanta on January 15, 1946. She left her beloved Georgia with John and they made their home in Texas. Louise worked and retired from White's Stores in Wichita Falls. She was active in Iowa Park civic organizations, including ESA, Garden Club, and PTA. She and John were long-time members of the First Presbyterian Church where she was active in many capacities including serving as an elder. After the Presbyterian Church closed, Louise joined the Faith Baptist Church of Iowa Park where she was a member of the Naomi Sunday School Class.
Louise is preceded in death by her husband, John W. Clapp, Jr.; her parents; and sister, Marjorie Bradford.
Surviving relatives include her children, Mabel Conner and husband, James; John W. "Bill" Clapp, III; Jim Clapp and wife Jan; all of Iowa Park, Texas; brother, James Armstrong and sister, Henrietta Biltz, both of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Pam Castaneda, Jim Conner, Will Thomas-Clapp, and Lara Williams; and five great grandchildren.
