Howard Lee Smith

Howard was born on August 9, 1938, in Terral, Oklahoma, to the late Walter T Smith and Lota Emily Howard Smith.

Howard served his country with honor and dedication, spending 23 years in the United States Air Force. He enlisted in 1955. On July 23, 1960, he married the love of his life, Gillian Price, in Wilson, Oklahoma. Following his military retirement in 1978, Howard served as an aircraft mechanic on Sheppard Air Force Base as part of the NATO training program. Howard worked at Sheppard Air Force Base for 25 years before retiring in 2003. He was a lifelong member of the Iowa Park Optimus Club.

Howard is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Jill Smith, and his loving sons Kenneth and Richard Smith. He also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren and fourteen adored great-grandchildren.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Walter T Smith and Lota Emily Howard Smith, as well as his brother.

A pavillion service to honor Howard's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Highland Cemetery. The service will be under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
