Clyde Wesley Patterson

Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Iowa Park with Rev. Glen Pearce, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.

Clyde was born July 25, 1928 in Petrolia, Texas to Elzy and Irene (Groves) Patterson. He and Movelda Mason were married June 27, 1948 in Petrolia, Texas. Clyde graduated from Petrolia High School in 1945 and finished Junior College in 1947 at North Texas Agricultural College. He gave his heart to the Lord when he was 11 years old and was a member of First Baptist Church of Iowa Park since 1955 where he served as an ordained Deacon since 1962. Clyde also taught 5th grade boys Sunday school class for 30 years and participated in church Mission Building trips. He enjoyed fishing and ranching and spending time at their vacation cabin in Eagle Nest, New Mexico. In his later years he enjoyed helping his son, Brent, in his veterinary work.

Clyde worked for S.G. Eddy’s Automotive Shop and Hodges Tire Company for 10 years prior to becoming co-owner/operator of Downtown Wheel Alignment in Wichita Falls for 28 years, retiring in 1985.

His parents and brother, Paul Patterson and sister, Reva Nell Baker, and son-in-law, Dan Burnett preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Movelda Patterson of Iowa Park; children, Wendell Patterson and wife, Patti of Charlotte, North Carolina, Brenda Burnett of Iowa Park, and Brent Patterson and wife, Carol of Iowa Park; 4 grandchildren, Brian Patterson and wife, Noelle, Brandon Patterson and wife, Danielle, Keren Angulo and husband, Anthony and Kristin Koslap and husband, Mike and 1 great grandson, Mason Patterson.

The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm, Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Dutton Funeral Home.
