Known to most as Bill, beloved husband and father; known as Big Daddy to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, 50-year resident of Iowa Park, was called Home on December 31, 2010 at the age of 81. He was born in Padgett, Texas, on November 9, 1929 to Larry Estill Robinson and Lily Ruth Robinson. He graduated from Olney High School and attended Wayland College and Midwestern State University. Bill married Myrna Beth Nall on December 18, 1949. His parents and his sister, Betty Ruth, preceded him in death.
He is succeeded by his wife of 61 years, Myrna; daughters, Rexa Frasco and her husband Gene of The Woodlands, Texas; Reesa Dacus and husband John of Dallas, Texas; granddaughters Dana Tsukahara of Fort Worth, Texas and Elizabeth Dacus of Dallas, Texas; grandson Ryan Parker and wife Kim of Hickory Creek, Texas; great grandchildren Jackson and Henry Tsukahara and Austin, Alex, Ava and Amelia Parker. He is also succeeded by nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
In 1954, Bill was honorably discharged from the United States Army. He served during the Korean Conflict and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Bill owned and operated several businesses in Iowa Park: a service station, a Western Auto store, an insurance agency and a small-engine repair business. For eight years he was employed as a driver for the Oklahoma Transportation Company. In 1988 he was elected Justice of the Peace for Precinct 3, Wichita County, where he served until 1999. He owned and operated Bill’s Fix-It Shop until 2009.
He served as a councilman for the City of Iowa Park and served as Mayor Pro Tem in 1967 and 1968; was Chair of the Iowa Park Electrical Board in 1986 and 1987. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Iowa Park, where he served on most committees. He and Myrna were members there for 50 years. They transferred their membership to First United Methodist Church in Pecan Gap, Texas last year, when they moved to their country home north of Commerce, Texas.
Throughout his life he enjoyed fixing things. He and Myrna loved to travel. He loved to drive.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2011, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Dutton Funeral Home, 300 East Cash, Iowa Park, Texas 76367. Reverend Carolyn Allbritton will officiate the funeral service held Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at Dutton Funeral Home. Graveside to follow at Crestview Memorial Cemetery.
Remembrances can be made to the First United Methodist Churches of Iowa Park and Pecan Gap and the Friendly Door of Iowa Park.
