She joins her husband, family, and friends who proceeded her. The bowling pins were probably already racked to pick up where they left off.
Anna was born on October 7, 1934 in Holliday, TX to George B. and Marion S. Wood. She grew up in the Holliday and Valley View areas in Texas and graduated from Valley View High School in May 1953. She met and married the anchor of her heart, Eldon S. Dowell, on April 25, 1953. They were married a golden 57 years before Eldon’s passing in 2010.
Anna's unwavering devotion to her family was matched only by her lifelong passion for the Hawks, Cowboys, and Texas Rangers. Whether cheering on her favorite teams or attending every game, concert, or event in which her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren participated in, Anna's presence was a constant source of love and support. She was a multi-talented individual, delving into crafts, baking, cooking, sewing, painting, jewelry making, and anything else that caught her interest. Her paintings adorn homes across the United States, a testament to her creativity and skill. For over five decades, she enjoyed bowling, but it was the camaraderie with her bowling friends that she treasured most. Her love for sports and literature remained steadfast throughout her life, always keeping a stack of books close at hand.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings George Wood, Marian Gregg, Kathleen Shook, Bettie Bradberry, Lillian Lou Campbell.
She is survived by her children, Donald B. Dowell and wife Sharon of Wellston, OK, Cheryl L. Campbell and fiancé Ed Davidson of Iowa Park, TX, and Laura B. Geary and husband Tim of Belton, MO, her grandchildren, Stephen Dowell of Arlington, TN, Kaitlynne Dowell of Southaven, MS, Austin Dowell of Franklin, TN, Dustan Wahl and wife Sheryl of Wichita Falls, TX, Scott Campbell of Wichita Falls, TX, Michelle Pierce and husband Zach of Leawood, KS, and James Geary of Belton, MO, and her great-grandchildren, Hannah Wahl of Petrolia, TX, and Caden Wahl of Petrolia, TX. She is also survived by her siblings, John A. Wood, Billy Lloyd Wood, and Susie Beisch all of Wichita Falls, TX, and Carolyn Smith of Canton, GA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the exceptional care, support, and love from the staff and volunteers at The Elison at Lake Wellington Assisted Living, The House of Hope and Hospice of Wichita Falls for the last few years.
The family would also like to ask that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to the Iowa Park Friendly Door Senior Citizen Center on 810 N 3rd, Iowa Park, TX, 76367 or the Tom Burnett Memorial Library on 400 W Alameda, Iowa Park TX, 76367.
A memorial service will be held under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home on Friday, March 8, at 10:00 A.M. at the Dutton Funeral Home Chapel in Iowa Park, Texas, with Pastor Tim Franks officiating.
