Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April, 23, 2011 at Dutton Funeral Home Chapel with his nephew, Pastor Larry Crabtree of Childress, Texas officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
Alvin was born in Olton, Texas, May 24, 1926 to Tipton Bradford and Kitty (Fowler) Jeter. He and Dorothy “Dottie” Kuykendall were married May 21, 1977 in Iowa Park, Texas. He has lived in Iowa Park for 50 years coming to the area from Paducah, Texas. He was a lifelong mechanic and a farmer. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Italy during World War II, receiving the WWII Victory Medal. He was also a member of the First Christian Church. Alvin’s passions included windmills, mesquite wood designs, gardening and fishing.
His parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy A. ‘Dottie’ Jeter of Iowa Park; a daughter-in-law, Deanna Via Stansbury of Iowa Park; a daughter, Carole Jeter Nuessen and husband, Harold of Gatesville, Texas, a son, Darwin Jeter, daughter, Yvette Treat of California; grandchildren, Jim Stansbury and Jeff Stansbury of Iowa Park, Jerry Stansbury and wife, Sandra of Rockwall, Texas, Kim Neal of Dover, Delaware, M. Jon Masters and wife Debra of Spokane, Washington; 26 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family extends their sincere thanks to the doctors and staff at Hospice of Wichita Falls.
