With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Wayne after a courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday, September 9th in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital with family by his side. Wayne was born September 16th, 1947 to the late Josie and Violet (Wiswell) MacDonald. Wayne's love for family was what got him through this battle, they were with him every step of the way. Wayne married the love of his life47 years ago, Mary Catherine (MacDonnell). They raised sons, JJ (Noelle) , Jimmy (Jane), and the daughter he never had Cathy (Paddy). His grandchildren were the sparkle in his eye, Xavier, Peyton, McKenzie and Regan as well as Logan and Branden. They will miss him dearly. Wayne was an avid horseman, who dedicated many years to the Inverness Raceway, who were his extended family. Wayne was a member of the Inverness Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He worked many years ago with his sidekick Jimmy in Alberta, as a member of Local 92. Prior to that he worked for several years at Tubetti's Esso as a body man, the Dept of Highways and as a professional bartender. Wayne's ability to story tell and tell jokes will be rembered by many. His love for music was shared by many over the years, many a kitchen party cording to the violin or singing an old country song are memories we will all share. Wayne enjoyed his drives with his dear friend, Kevin. They shared many laughs & good times over the years. Besides his wife and children, Wayne is survived by his sisters, Jesslyn Russell (late Andy Russell), Caroline (late Hector Mackenzie), Linda (Alex MacEachern), Valarie (Gussie Campbell); sister in-law, Norma MacDonnell; brother in-law, Norman Beaton; special nephews, Johnny, Adam, Don, and Paddy; several nieces and nephews.
