February 28, 1952 - November 20, 2022
Our hearts are shattered with the loss of our dear mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Left to grieve, her sons, Jason, Jeff (Trina); grandchildren, Cole, Emma and Isabella; sisters, Judy, Sheila (David); brothers, Donald (Eveylena), Darrell (Denise); as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews; aunts, Grace (Eric), Anne.
Predeceased by her parents, John Hector and Helen; and sister, Sharon Elizabeth.
Mary Margaret was a kind, humble, unassuming person who loved God and his blessed Mother. Her faith was very strong. She was in church every Sunday and always sat in her same pew. Mary Margaret never missed Holy Hour and often filled in when needed. She was also a Cooperator of the Heralds of the Gospel in the Port Hood seat.
Mary Margaret worked at the Co-op in Port Hood for over thirty years as a cashier. She enjoyed chatting with her customers, always a story or a good hearty laugh. Shortly after her retirement at the Co-op, she joined the maintenance staff at Bayview Education Centre in Port Hood where she worked part-time until her death.
Every Saturday night she would be sitting in front of the TV, watching her beloved Maple Leafs. When they scored, she screamed so loud her two cats, Carmilla and Mocka took off running. Bella her dog, asleep on the floor would jump up and start barking. She loved her Maple Leafs. From a very young age, many a night she would wake her father from a very deep sleep yelling when the Leafs scored. Ron Ellis was her favorite. She would write up her thoughts on the games, she did that for many teenage years.
Mary Margaret had many more passions, such as reading and feeding and watching the birds. Most of all, her she had a passion for quilting. Many a beautiful quilt she made. At the time of her death, she was working on quilts for her grand-daughter, Emma and Isabella. She wanted to have them ready for Christmas when she would visit them in Edmonton. She couldn't wait to see Jeff, Trina and the girls.
Mary Margaret talked to her sister Judy every night for usually over an hour, until Mary Margaret would say, "o.k that is enough". They would end the conversation with a good laugh and plan to talk the next night. She has such a sense of humor, many a good laugh she had with family and friends.
The highlight of her past summer was a visit from her son Jeff, daughter-in-law, Trina and grand-daughters, Emma and Isabella. Having them christened in St. Peter's Parish, Port hood, her parish, was an answer from God. Mom will be sadly missed by her family and friends, one's who knew and loved her so much. She is with her mom and dad and sister, Sharon. Fly with the angels mom, your life on earth is done. May you rest in the arms of Jesus where you belong.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in Port Hood and Area Resting Place. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, November 28 at 11:00 am in St. Peter's Church, Port Hood. Burial to follow in St. Andrew's Parish Cemetery, Judique.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Peter's Church, Port Hood, or to a charity of choice.
