Mary Catherine MacDonnell

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that our family announces the passing of our loving mother, Mary Catherine (MacLellan) MacDonnell at the age of 65. Mary passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on May 30, 2013. Born in Inverness on October 12 ,1947, Mary was a daughter of the late Willie Dan and Annie Margaret (MacIsaac) MacLellan. Mary is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Alex "Hubba" and her children, Dwayne (Angie) Inverness; Charlene, Inverness; Clayton, Fort McMurray; siblings, Barbara, Kirkfield, Ont.; Willena (Alex Trapper), Inverness; Theresa, Port Hood; Elizabeth (Jordan), Inverness; Raymond (Sheila), Inverness; Rose (Donald), Port Hood; Geraldine (Steven), Port Hood; Donald (Mary), Inverness; Margie, Inverness; Francis (Annette), Inverness; Cameron (Dianne) Belldune, N.B.; Bernie (Heather), Sydney; Joan (Edward), Inverness. Mary was a devoted member of Stella Maris Parish, Inverness. She retired from the Inverary Manor in 2007 and for years to follow she participated yearly in the Relay for Life with her friends from Inverness Manor. Mary always opened her home to family and friends to share tea and her baked goods, especially on bingo nights or sitting on the veranda enjoying a summer evening. Mary’s life was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt and friend to many. She loved celebrating holidays and the large “MacLellan" family gatherings down the Red Rows. Mary’s life was complete when her precious grandson, Alex Dan arrived on May 9, 2012. In a short time she gave him a lifetime of love. Mary was predeceased by her parents; brother, Rannie (Inverness) and brother-in-law Gordon Duff (of Kirkfield, Ont.). The family is requesting family flowers only please. Memorial donations can be made to the Stella Maris Parish Cemetery Fund or to the Central Inverness Palliative Care Society who have gone above and beyond to support our family and Mary throughout her illness. Cremation has taken place and visitation will be on Monday, June 3, in Stella Maris Church from 10:00-10:45 a.m. and funeral mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Fr.
