It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Katie
Maggie MacLeod on August 7,2022 in the Inverary Manor Inverness.
Katie was born August 31,1921 to Angus R. MacDonald and Jessie Chisholm
of Broad Cove Marsh, Inverness County. Wife of the late John Richard
MacLeod (2018), Katie is survived by nephew Norman MacLellan of
Dunvegan with whom she shared a special bond. Also by numerous nieces
and nephews and extended family. Besides her husband and parents Katie
was predeceased by sisters Mary Ann, Mary Jessie, Mary Maggie; and
brothers John Rory and Dan Allen, also special friend and sister-in-law
Catherine MacLeod.
Katie saw the beauty in life and always had a passion for animals. She
was relaxed and with her hospitality and quick wit she welcomed many
visitors to her home. She was a longtime member of the Southwest Margaree
Seniors Hall and the Gaelic Society. She really loved storytelling. Stories
about a horse and wagon, her dog and cat, and memories of days gone by.
Much of her storytelling in Gaelic (her first language) is recorded online and
can be viewed at www.cainnt momhathar.com/speaker
Katie's family would like to express a special "thank you" to the entire staff
of the Inverary Manor (Sunrise Villa) for the exceptional compassion and
care given to Katie while she resided there. Also, to her many visitors who
brought her much comfort.
Visitation will be held in Inverness Funeral Home on Friday Aug 12 from 2-8 p.m.
Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday Aug 13 at 11 a.m. in St Margaret of Scotland
Church, Broad Cove with Father Dan MacDonald officiating.
