Jon grew up in Inverness and attended University in his early years, then went on to have many occupations throughout his life. Jon spent a lot of his working life in Sydney, where he retired as an Addictions Counsellor and further continued to help many in our community overcome challenges, and experience a more fulfilling life. Jon was a member of many committees and boards that advocated for the betterment of the community of Inverness. Jon was a practicing Catholic and enjoyed sharing his personal spiritual experiences, and faith in God with everyone who crossed his path.
Jon is honoured for his wisdom, honesty, intelligence and genuine faith in humanity. Jon was always sure to bring out the best in everyone. His vibrant laugh was infectious to all! Jon has left a special place in everyone’s heart.
Jon was the center of the Yipp Family and always so proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jon is survived by the mother of his children, Patricia Gillis. Jon was predeceased by his wife, Marie Yipp. Jon was the loving father of the late Lance Yipp, Inverness and stepson Booker Wall, Sydney. Jon is survived by his loving children, Pam Hartford (John Hartford), Inverness, George Yipp, Inverness, Warren Yipp, Inverness, Jon Yipp, Inverness, stepson, Michael Wall, Halifax and daughter in law, Ann Yipp, Inverness. Jon is survived by his grandchildren, Colyn, Nya, Hailey, Coady, Accacia, Leelyn, Mitchell, Wendel, John, and Taryn. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Vada, Reid, Carter, Freddie, Lennox, Scarlett, Will, Mac, Callum, Ryland, Penny, Summer, Levi, Maverick, Isaac and Alex. Jon is also survived by his sister, Dolores (Dollie) O’Connor, Victoria. Jon is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jon was predeceased by his late parents, George and Ida Yipp, brothers Roy and Lance Yipp and his son Lance Yipp.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 4th from 10-10:45 am with Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 am in Stella Maris Church, Inverness. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
