John Roddie MacRae, Age 73, passed away on Friday, April 28 in Inverary Manor, Inverness. Born in Inverness on October 10, 1949 he was a son of the late, John Charlie and Annie Agnes (MacIsaac) MacRae.
Roddie is survived by his brothers, Rannie (Stella), Port hood, D.A., Mississauga, Ontario, and is predeceased by his sister Kay (Fred) Swain, Darthmouth, Nova Scotia.
Roddie was a member of St. Margaret of Scotland Church, Broad Cove. He worked at the Pulp Mill in Port Hawkesbury at an early age until his retirement. He volunteered for both the Dunvegan Parish Centre and the Broad Cove Concert, where he always devoted his time at the gate.
Roddie enjoyed his drives as well as good Scottish music playing in the background. Roddie was a very quiet person and enjoyed the simplicities that life had to offer. Roddie was a good neighbor and always would lend a hand whenever asked and did not want any thanks in return.
Visitation will be held in St. Margaret of Scotland church, Broad Cove on Friday from 10-10:45 am. with Funeral Mass to follow at 11 am. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Inverary Manor, Inverness or to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society.
