MacLean John Thomas "Uncle John", Age 92 of Scotsville, passed away peacefully in the Inverary Manor, Inverness on Sunday, November 9, 2014, after a short illness. Born in Inverness on October 11, 1922, he was a son of the late Dan J. and Mary Anne (Wilcox) Maclean. John better known to everyone as "Uncle John" was a kind and gentle man. He was a caring and loving son, brother, uncle, grand-uncle and brother-in-law. He always loved giving to others. He worked as a pulp cutter for several years. John was a Second World War Veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (Princess Louise Fusiliers) and was proud to have served his country. John is survived by his brother, Donald Hugh, Scotsville; his nephew, Brian (Anne), Scotsville; nieces, Brenda (Ragnar) Odegaard, Norway; Linda (Dale) Buckley, S.W. Margaree; Georgina (Danny) MacIntyre, Ontario; grand nieces, Liz MacLean, Inverness; Amanda Buckley, Ontario; Maggie MacLean, New York; Abby MacLean, Belgium; Samantha MacIntyre, Ontario; grand nephews, Donnie and David MacLean, Ontario; Josh MacLean, Truro; David and Matthew MacIntyre, Ontario. He was predeceased by his brother, George; niece, Margaret; nephews, Wayne, John Alexander and Benjamin in infancy, and grand nephew, Allan Buckley. Visitation will be held in Inverness Funeral Home on Thursday November 13, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 14, at 11 a.m. in East Lake Ainslie Presbyterian Church, East Lake Ainslie with Pastor Maggie Plant celebrating. Burial to follow in Lake Ainslie cemetery, East lake Ainslie. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Inverary Manor, Inverness or to a charity of your choice.
