Coady, John Andrew - 86, of South West Margaree, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 30, 2010, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. He was a son of the late Peter Jack and Rebecca (Dunn) Coady. John was a farmer and hunting guide as well as a driving examiner. John A was a carpenter by trade and a member of local 1588 Carpenters and Joiners of America for 50 years. He was well loved and respected by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; stepchildren, Gussie (Christine), Sydney; Raymond (Sharon), Westmont; Peter (Jacqueline), Doucette, Donkin Highway; stepdaughter Nancy (Ricky) Kennedy, Bateston; son-in–law, Doug MacDougall. He is also survived by sisters, Margaret MacLellan, Deepdale; Jessie Tompkins, Big Brook; Catherine, Halifax, and special friends, John Albert Coady, Billy Carroll and Hughie Dunn; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; several cousins.
John is predeceased by infant brother; stepdaughter, Frances Doucette MacDougall; brothers-in-law, Dan MacLellan, Pat Tompkins and Colin MacLennan.
Visitation will be in Inverness Funeral Home on Friday, October 1 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, South West Margaree with Fr. Vincent VanZutphen officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society or to St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery Fund, South West Margaree.
