John Finley Beaton

Beaton, John Finley - Port Hood, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital on Thursday, September 30, 2010. Born in St. Ninian, Inverness Co., November 1, 1933, he was a son of the late Alex Austin and Catherine Ann (MacIsaac) Beaton. He was the beloved husband for 52 years of Mae Ann (Smith); loving father of Kathleen, Charlotte, Brenda and Melanie, all of Halifax; Stephen (Robin, Hammonds Plains; Ann Marie (Derek), Oromocto, NB.; Wayne (Karen), Mabou; Finley, Bernadine, Kevin (Linda), Port Hood. He was a loving Poppy to Mark, Ryan, Kelsey, Amber, Noah, Eli and Kylie Mae. He will be greatly missed by his sisters, Sister Agnes Beaton, St. Andrews; Mary MacIntyre, Riverview, N.B.; Bernie (Joan), Oshawa, Ont.; Alex, Ottawa, Ont.; Joseph; many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his numerous friends, many of whom he enjoyed playing cards with. Visitation will be Sunday, October 3 from 7-9 p.m. and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Port Hood Resting Place. Funeral mass will be Tuesday, October 5 at 11 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, Port Hood, Fr. Victor Ozoufunanya celebrating. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in his memory to the Nova Scotia Lung Association or to St. Peter’s Parish Cemetery Fund.
