Born may 12, 1966 to the late John Archie and Mona (Harper) Gillis.
Johnny leaves behind his wife of almost 15 years, Colleen and son, Johnathan Alexander.
He also leaves behind his brothers, Roy (Kimmy) and Danny; nieces, Keisha, Abby and Helena; nephews, Quarrie (Abbey), Luke and Layk; mother and father-in-law, Anita and Norman Patterson; sister-in-law, Vicki (Mike); brother-in-law, Frank; along with 2 special people very close to his heart, Alisha and Josh (Shelly).
Johnny was employed at the Tree Nursery in Strathlorne where he spent many days side by side with his wonderful past and present co-workers. Each evening and days off were spent with the horseman and horsewomen at Inverness Raceway. Johnny had a passion for horses and has owned and raced many over the years. He leaves behind his favorite horses, Iona Katie and Tequila n Paradise. Also his barn mates, Joey, Madison, Erland, Damian and Andrew. As soon as race season was over, Johnny would spend his time cheering on from the stands at any arena his favorite hockey player for the Inverness Ravens and from his spot on the couch, his beloved Montreal Canadiens hockey team.

Visitation to take place on Saturday, June 26th in Inverness Funeral Home, Inverness from 3-8 p.m.
