It is with deep sadness, that we the family of Frank Colin Urquhart , age 83, of Pleasant Bay, announce his passing on July 30, 2012, at Buchannan Memorial Hospital in Neil’s Harbour. He was a fisherman, and a carpenter, and he worked for the Department of Highways for many years. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his “big” hands and “rough” and carefree manner. He loved music, (especially Newfoundland), spending time in the garden after coming in from fishing, wood carving/folk art to pass the time.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Eileen; daughters, Brenda (Arlie), Della (Kenneth), and Sylvia (Skippy); step children, Mary & John (Gail); his first & very special grand-daughter, Hazel, as well as Michael, Abigail, Christopher, Adam, Sheldon, Evan, Roy, Quentin, Justin, and Savanna, as well as 11 great-grandchildren, including his namesake, Spencer. He is also survived by his brothers, Malcolm and Alex and sister, Donna, as well as many nieces & nephews. He is predeceased by his first wife, Shirley (MacIntosh); brothers, Chester and Douglas and sister, Patricia.
The family would like thank the staff at the hospitals & nursing homes in Cheticamp and Neils’s Harbour for their compassionate care.
As per his wishes, a family only grave site service will take place in Pleasant Bay Cemetery, Thursday August 2 at 3 p.m. followed by a luncheon at the lower level of the Whale Interpretative Centre, Harbour Road, where friends can meet with the family.
