We are sad to announce the passing of Eileen May Hawley on Thursday, August 22, 2019 as a result of complications from her diabetes. She passed while surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was born October 31st 1936 in Middlesex, England to Lesley and Dorothy Wooton (nee Skingle).
She loved to play bingo and was always up for a game of cards. After moving to Port Hood with her late husband Alex, they loved to entertain neighbours and friends and enjoyed socializing with them at the Guitar Club as well as local parades and events throughout the year. She was an active member of the Legion and St. Peter's Parish.
She is survived by her sons, Stephen (Barb) Kinsella and Edward Kinsella; daughter, Marilyn (Dave) Stevenson. She is also survived by her stepson, John (Carmen) Hawley and stepdaughter, Christine (Gary) Ashthrop. Also left behind to mourn are her sister, Wendy Houghton of Bicester, England; brother, Ted Wootton of Ruislip England; as well as her 8 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She has gone to join her late husbands, Alex Hawley and Edward Kinsella. She is also predeceased by her daughters, Debbie Kinsella, Sandra (Kevin) Hogan; grandson, Edward Kinsella; and her siblings Jean, John, Patricia, Valerie and Lesley.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association of Nova Scotia or Inverary Manor, Inverness.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Port Hood and Area Resting Place. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, Port Hood, with Father Vincent vanZutphen officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff of Inverary Manor for the outstanding care and extra attention they provided for Eileen in her declining days.
