A long time member of the Port Hood Catholic Women’s League, Eileen had a devote belief in the Catholic Church, in particular a love for St. Anne. She spent her life giving herself to others whether it was crossing the Atlantic Ocean as a war bride to leave her homeland for the unexpected experiences of a new land, her selfless ability to raise her children through the loss of two husbands, caring for two foster children, her volunteer time spent with teaching figure skating and years of dedication to the Girl Guides of Canada. Eileen spent her life inviting others into her home for many “kitchen chats” and of course, a splendid cup tea. She also immensely enjoyed her Tuesday evening card games and afternoon sewing circles.
Eileen’s family wish to express sincere gratitude to all who remembered us during this difficult time. Special thanks to Dr. Lok, the thoughtful nurses of the ICMH, as well as Melody MacMillan. To all our thoughtful friends and neighbors, your many acts of kindness were much appreciated and will always be remembered.
