Diana Kristina McKinnon

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Diana Kristina McKinnon, 69, of Margaree Forks at her home on April 3rd, 2015, after an intense battle with pancreatic cancer. Originally from the U.S., Diana moved to Cape Breton with her family in 2002. Falling very much in love with her new community, she joined the Cabot Trail Working Association, the Facade Program and was an avid local photographer. She was passionate about theatre and music and formed the West Side Performing Arts Co-operative (WESPAC) to provide local artists access to production skills, stage management and equipment that might otherwise prevent them from performing. Diana was predeceased by her mother, Lorraine (Miller) McKinnon on January 4th, 2015 and is survived in Canada by her daughter, Emily and her grandchildren, Mack and Zoe. Her funeral service will be held at Wilson United Church on Friday, April 10th at 11a.m. There will be a wake beforehand at 10a.m. and a luncheon in the Hall to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Central Inverness County Palliative and Hospice Care (PO Box 610, Inverness, B0E 1N0), who's help, along with the local Continuing Care and Home Health workers, was monumental to Diana and her family.
