Christy Ellen Rankin

The death of Christy Ellen Rankin of Rocky Ridge, Inverness Co., occurred in Inverary Manor, peacefully, on March 23, 2015. Born in Rocky Ridge on September 10, 1921 to the late Angus Peter and Mary (Burke) Rankin. She is survived by her sister, Catherine Annie MacLeod of Sudbury, Ontario. She was predeceased by brother, Alexander; sisters, Margaret, Mary Elizabeth MacKinnon, Bridget Ann MacDougall and Marie MacPhee. She is survived by twenty three nieces and nephews and their children, and twenty three great nephews and nieces. Mary Elizabeth's children include: John, Joseph, David, Wayne, and Donald. Bridget Ann's children include: Ronald, Kathleen (deceased), Bernard, Lorne, Leo (deceased), Alexander, Elizabeth Ann, Michael, Douglas, and Raymond. Marie's children include: Donald, Maura, Helen, Mary, Angus, Gerard, and Rose (deceased). Catherine Annie's children include: Jessie, Sandra, Brian, and Barry. Christy worked as a domestic in New England and Canada. She was a women of deep faith and a very generous person. She had a wonderful way of connecting with people and had a genuine zest and curiosity for life. Family and non-family were welcomed into her kitchen on Rocky Ridge and few left without a lasting positive impression. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of her company. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 29 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Port Hood Funeral Parlor. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. with Fr. Joe MacKinnon, nephew officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Chalice, or a charity of your choice.
