Christena was born September 4, 1937 in Margaree Harbour and was a daughter of the late John Lewis Marple and Mary Christena (MacDonnell) Marple. She is survived by her sisters, Helen Deagle, Inverness and Mildred Johnson in East Margaree brothers, Richard (Joy) Ontario, Jackie, British Columbia, and Winston (Jeannine) Margaree Harbour and many nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Ralph, infant brother, sister and brother-in-law’s Lawrence Deagle and Charles Johnson.
Christena worked at various jobs and many in the local area remember her as the gatekeeper at St. Anne’s. She also worked for Alexander Graham Bell’s grandson as a nanny for his children both in Cape Breton and USA. Christena loved to play jokes, cards, games, bingo, darts and fishing. This past summer Christena had the opportunity to go fishing twice with the Manor and she loved it. She always was smiling and loved when you stopped in for a visit. Christena will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.
At Christena’s request, there is no visitation or funeral mass. A graveside burial will take place at a later date.
Donations in memory of Christena may be made to the Inverary Manor, Inverness where Christena lived the past few years and where she meet many people who cared for her as she cared for them.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Inverness Funeral Home.
