age 93 of Mabou Ridge passed away peacefully in Inverary Manor onTuesday, July 22,2014.
Born in Mabou Ridge on Aug. 12, 1920, Angus was the son of the late Alexander "Sandy" and Margaret (Burke) Rankin.
As a young man, Angus owned and operated a truck before moving to Detroit to work. He later moved to Boston, where he worked for years with Carling Brewery.
Angus retired to Mabou Ridge 40 years ago to care for his aging mother and later an ailing aunt and brother.
Angus was a proud Gaelic speaker and singer. He generously shared a wealth of Gaelic songs and fiddle tunes that he recorded with visitors in Boston and Mabou Ridge.
Angus was a man of great faith and was a proud proponent of his Catholic religion and St. Mary's Parish in Mabou.
Besides his parents, Angus was predeceased by brothers Thomas, Allan and Donald.
A kind and considerate gentleman, Angus is the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Angus is resting in the vestry of St. Mary's Church, Mabou on WednesdayJuly 23 from 2 -4 and 7- 9 p.m.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m., in St. Mary's Church, Mabou with Rev. Angus Morris officiating.
