Angus was a vibrant part of his beloved community of Mabou, where he spent over 30 years as a teacher at Mabou Consolidated School. Angus was passionate about many things, but he particularly loved Scottish Fiddle Music which was engrained in him as he grew up as the eldest child in a large, and musical family. Nothing pleased Angus more than listening to Scotch music, and he loved attending square dances and fiddling events in Inverness County and beyond. He was a valued member of the community where he volunteered his time to many community building initiatives, and was a past Board Director for the Mabou Athletic Association and the East Coast Credit Union. He was also active in school sports, where he took on coaching roles in basketball, softball, and volleyball. He had a particular passion for Track and Field, and his devotion to coaching the sport helped to develop many high performing track athletes, several of whom went on to perform and excel at Provincial and National levels. Talking about his track athletes, or hearing music being played by any one of his musical family members was sure to put a smile on his face. Finally, Angus was a life-long follower of the Montreal Canadiens and the Los Angeles Dodgers, and truly loved engaging in discussions about those teams with other sports fanatics in the area.
Angus was born on August 7th, 1941 in Mabou to his father, Donald Angus Beaton and mother Elizabeth (MacEachen) Beaton (both deceased). Angus loved Donald Angus’s and Elizabeth’s music and truly admired and respected his father and mother and was proud to be part of the Beaton’s of Mabou Clan.

Angus also leaves behind eight grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Sarah and Ryan Beaton, Matthew, Lindsay and Ainslee Connolly, Jessica, Molly and Ian MacDonald, all of whom loved their Grandpa to the moon and back. Angus was predeceased by his son Dwayne, who always held a special spot in his heart.
Angus also leaves to grieve his seven brothers and sisters who each had a special bond with Angus.
