MacDonald, Alma Teresa – 88. It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Alma on March, 16, 2012, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Born in Crook, County Durham, England, she was a daughter of Neuber and Sarah Elizabeth (Claxton) Hodges. During the Second World War, Alma met a handsome man in the Canadian Air Force who would become her husband of 68 years. Alma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. She was a caring, hard-working person, who put the concerns of others before herself. Alma loved travelling and taking trips. Her many talents in the kitchen were enjoyed by her family, friends and neighbourhood children. Alma is survived her husband, Donald Johnny Murdock; sons, John (Ann), Norman (Carol), Gerard (Laura), Donnie (Nellie); daughters, Elizabeth (Peter Pucovsky), Gloria (Willie MacLellan), Veronica (Vlad Mudra), Frances (Clarey Farrell), Janice (Hugh Dillon); sister, Bessie Longley, England; 31 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by son, Bernard,1982; daughter, Catherine Ann MacDonnell (Burk), 1994; grandson, Vladjo Mudra, 1988; five sisters and one brother. Visitation will be in the vestry of St. Mary’s Church, Mabou on Sunday, March 18, from 7 – 9 pm. and Monday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9pm. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, March 20 at 11am. in St Mary’s Church, Mabou with Father Angus Morris officiating, burial to take place at a later date in the parish cemetery.
