Alexander Hugh Rankin

Rankin, Alexander Hugh – August 2,1922 - January 23,2013. 90, Mabou, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Alex Hughie was a humble and kind man of faith. He was the son of the late William F. and Catherine (Beaton) Rankin (Mabou Harbour). He lived and worked in Toronto and Winnipeg before returning home to his adored Mabou Harbour. Alex Hughie is survived by his dear partner of forty years, Emma (Kendzierski); family, Grace, Flo (MacRae), Jimmy and Joey and grandchildren; sisters, Sr. Marcella Rankin, Antigonish; Flora Catherine (MacLellan), Glenville; his family and friends especially his close friend, Ted Statwich. Alex Hughie was predeceased by his brothers, Finlay Archie, Kennie and Angus Willie (Mabou Harbour).

Visitation will be held in the Vestry of St. Mary’s Church, Mabou on Friday, January 25, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Mabou with Fr. Angus Morris officiating. Burial at a later date in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery Fund, Mabou.
