Willie attended a public school in Wynne, before following his brothers to Indianapolis, Indiana. He graduated from Crispus Attucks High School.
Willie worked various jobs in the service industry before landing a job at Allison’s Gas in 1965 as an aircraft rework mechanic. He retired in 1993 after 28 years of services.
On February 8, 1986, he married Lodeana, his beloved wife.
Willie professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized. He joined Breeding Tabernacle Christian Methodist Church and was a faithful member. Willie worked as a Sunday school teacher and a usher until his health began to fail.
Willie sang in a quartet with his brothers; Andrew and Felix and the Tucker brothers. He was also one of the original members of the Soul Survivors Social Club
Willie loved to sit in his lawn chair parked in front of the garage with the garage door opened and watch the cars go up and down the street. The neighbors quickly noticed and started to believe he was part of the Neighborhood Watch Program!
Willie departed his earthly shell on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents; Isaac and Frances Lumpkins, brothers; Roosevelt Omega, Isaac, Felix and Luther Lumpkins, sisters; Hester Tuggle and Viola Maggot.
Willie leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 34 years, Lodeana, 2 sons; Frederick (Mia) Lumpkins and Kenneth Lumpkins, brother Andrew (Felicia) Lumpkins, sister Louise Scott, 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren , a host of nieces, nephew, cousins, brothers-in-law, and his longtime friend Luke White, extended family and friends.
