Obituary of William S. Wainscott
William S. Wainscott, 91, a resident of Robin Run Retirement Facility, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born April 6, 1924 in Frankfort, Indiana to the late, Proctor and Madge Wainscott, Sr. Bill finished his Frankfort High School education two years early, graduating in 1941. He then started at Purdue University School of Engineering in the fall. Bill interrupted his education to join the United States Marine Corps in 1943. He proudly served as a navigator aboard the Corps Curtiss C-46 ‘Commando’ aircraft in the Pacific Theatre. After his service, he returned to Purdue to complete his civil engineering degree with distinguished academic honors in 1948. Bill was employed by Skidmore-Owings-Merrill Chicago Architecture and Engineering Firm. He initially worked in Oak Ridge, Tennessee where he met and married his beloved Naomi in 1949. He was a 33rd Degree Mason and had served as Worshipful Master of Indiana Freemasons Mechanicsburg Lodge #392. He was a 50 year Shriner and member of Theta Tau Phi Fraternity at Purdue. Bill is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Naomi (Sexton) Wainscott; dear son, Stephen William Wainscott and devoted brother, Proctor Wainscott, Jr. Bill is survived by his caring sister, Kathleen Bowling and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Visitation for Bill will begin at 9:00 am on Thursday, July 2nd at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary with services beginning there at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Chicago.
