

Wilbert was born in Indianapolis to Mayme Finkton and John Davis on October 25, 1931. He graduated from Attucks High School and then went to serve in the United States Air Force. He married the love of his life, Pauline Raine on January 11, 1958. He started working at the Indianapolis post office on May 18, 1957, where he served as officer of Branch 39 and received numerous awards over the years. He retired on October 2, 1992. After retiring from the post office, he worked at the Indianapolis Convention Center and various other jobs.
He was a huge sports fan and liked to watch the Indianapolis Colts, Indianapolis Pacers and IU basketball games. Wilbert was known as chef extraordinaire.
Wilbert is preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, Mayme Finkton and John Davis, 3 brothers, Stanley Finkton and Lawrence and James Andrews, his twin sister Willa Mae Brooks and sisters Juanita Andrews and Roma Gene Davis, wife Pauline and his son Michael Finkton.
Wilbert is survived by his 3 sons, Garry Finkton, Keith Finkton (Terri) and Wilbert (Skipper) Finkton, Jr. His sisters Judith Cox and Arlee Solomon (Joe) and brother Frank Andrews, Sr. 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation-crown hill memorial chapel for Wilbert will be held Friday, September 1, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 PM.
