Obituary of Timothy Michael Stapleton
After an almost two decade battle with cancer, Timothy Michael Stapleton of Noblesville, Indiana passed away peacefully in the morning hours of September 24, 2023 at the age of 82. Born on February 27, 1941 to Thomas Joseph and Ida Mae (Girard) Stapleton, in Boston, Massachusetts, he lived in Denver, Colorado and the Chicago suburb of Northbrook, Illinois before his family settled in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1949 where he lived for most of his life. Tim was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Tom. He leaves behind his wife, Linda, his children, LuAnn and Tim, his daughter-in-law, Hillary, and two beloved grandsons, Corbin and Nicholas. He was a graduate of North Central High School in Indianapolis and Indiana University. Tim lived his life by a core set of Midwestern values centered around his faith, his family, and service to his community. A devout Catholic, he never missed Sunday Mass. He was so committed that when traveling, his first order of business was to find the address of the nearest Catholic Church. Tim was devoted to his wife, Linda, for 58 years and they raised two children together. He always greeted everyone with a warm smile and made friends wherever he went. To those who knew him, he was the kind of person you could always depend on in a time of need. In the early 1960s, he volunteered to serve his country in the United States Army where he was stationed in Europe. One of his proudest life moments was when he was invited to join other veterans in a day of gratitude and reflection at our nation’s memorials in Washington, D.C. as part of the Honor Flight Network. Tim carried this commitment to serving others throughout his entire life, volunteering as a coach for his kid’s baseball, basketball and softball teams and serving in various leadership positions on councils and committees at his church. In his retirement, he enjoyed volunteering for activities in support of local law enforcement organizations, including the Fishers, Indiana Police Department. In his later years, having retired from the corporate world, Tim traveled extensively with his wife, often visiting family and friends along the way. One of his favorite trips was to Ireland where he was delighted to stumble upon Stapleton’s Bar in County Kilkenny and immediately attempted to trace his family lineage. Most recently, he split his time between Indiana and Florida where he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with friends. Visitation for Tim will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 9900 E. 191st Street, Noblesville, IN 46060. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11:00 AM also at the church. Tim will be laid to rest at Crown Hill National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 7009, Indianapolis, IN 46207 or to the Indy Honor Flight, P.O.
