Roy Franklin Knight, 85, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Plainfield Healthcare Center. Roy was born on July 11, 1936 in Indianapolis to the late Walter Bert and Bonnie May Knight.
Roy married Barbara Ann Yates, together they shared four sons.
Roy trained at Purdue University Police Academy, he always made it a point to tell people that it only took him two weeks to graduate from Purdue. Roy was a Korean War Vet, having served in the US Army.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason, being a part of the Brookeside Masonic Lodge #720. He was also involved with the Scottish Rite Cathedral, as well as the Murat Shriners.
Roy attended Ritter Avenue Free Methodist church over the years.
Roy is survived by his sons; John Knight (Debra), Dave Knight (Frankie), Don Knight, and Mike Ohrberg, one sister; Linda Knight, four grandchildren; Brandon, Vanessa, Brittany, and Jessica, and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Roy is preceded in death by his siblings; Richard "Dick" Knight and Mary Jeffers, his grandson; Josh Knight, and his wife of forty-three years; Barbara Knight.
A visitation for Roy will be held Monday, January 24, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, 1307 N Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana 46219, followed by a Masonic service at 1:30 PM. Pastors Dave Nicholson and Jerry Bagle will officiate the funeral service at 1:45 PM. He will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
