Roy Duane Bowman

Roy Duane Bowman, age 78, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022. Roy was born in Bluffton, Indiana to the late Chrystal A. (Tridker) Bowman and Robert J. Bowman. He is also preceded in death by his son, Blake Bowman. He earned his B.S. at Western Michigan University and his

M.A. at Indiana University. Roy worked for a few years as a professor at Wabash College but spent the

majority of his career working in the Insurance Industry, including Lincoln National Life Ins. Co., Conseco,

Nyhart, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and One America. Roy loved the Cincinnati Reds and listened to every game on the radio. He was also a proud owner of an Austin-Healy that he had fully restored and was a member of the Central Indiana Austin-Healy Club.

Roy is survived by his brother, Byrl J. Bowman (Mary); nieces, Joanna Childers and Jennifer Bowman Goldstein; nephew, Bret Bowman; and mother of his son, Jody Bentz.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held for Roy Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 2:00PM at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, 1307 N Shadeland Ave. Indianapolis, Indiana 46219. Roy's urn will be laid to rest in 6 Mile Cemetery, Bluffton, Indiana.

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free

To follow the path God made for me.

I took His hand when I heard Him call.

I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,

To love, to laugh, to work or play.

Tasks left undone must stay that way,

For I found peace at last, that day.

If my parting has left a void,

Then fill it with remembering joy.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,

Oh yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with hearts of sorrow.

My wish for you is the hope of tomorrow.

My life’s been full, I’ve savored much,

Good friends, good times,

a loved one’s touch.

Perhaps my time seemed much too brief,

Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.

Lift up your heart and share with me,

God wants me now --- He’s set me free.
