Ronald L. Faulkner, 78, peacefully passed from the loving arms of his family to the loving arms of his Savior on Oct. 2, 2013. Ron was born March 21, 1935 in Peoria, IL to Charles C. and Mildred L. Faulkner.
After moving to Indianapolis he attended Broad Ripple High School. He later graduated from Ben Davis High School where he met his high school sweetheart, Lucille E. Deyo, on the school bus. Ron and Lucille celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in September.
After high school, he joined the Naval Reserve where he served in the U.S.S. Joy and U.S.S. Comstock. Ron was honorably discharged in 1960. In 1986, he retired from Allison Gas Turbine after 30 years.
Ron was a charter member of Southport Lion’s Club and the charter president of Danville Lions Club. HE also served as the Lion’s District C Governor, Gideon’s International, and member of the New Winchester Missionary Baptist Church. For 28 years, Ron and Lucille orchestrated the annual Lion’s Club Easter egg hunt at Ellis Park in Danville.
His years of community and international service are exemplified by his mission tour to Liberia, Africa where he distributed medical supplies and small gifts. When he arrived home in the middle of winter he had given away everything he could, including his coat and belt. Ron’s devotion to God and the helping others was unparalleled.
Ron is survived by his wife, Lucille Faulkner; daughters, Wanda (Dennis) Smith, Nadine (Gary) Jones, and Charlotte Faulkner (Fred Ferguson); sons, Michael (Sherry), Floyd (Naomi), Ronald (Sandy), and Douglas (Elena), 24 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He has joined his parents; brother, Charles; son, Steven; and grandson, Nathan Jones in Heaven.
The family will recieve friends, Tuesday, October 7, 2013 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Family Funeral Care, 5791 Rockville Rd. A funeral service will be heald Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
