

Bob was born to Robert Freeman Wirsching and Gladys Wilson Wirsching on July 11, 1934 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Bob graduated from Purdue University in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry. He then served in the United States Army Air Defense Command in Chicago, Illinois, where he attained the rank of First Lieutenant and later served as Captain in the Reserves.
Bob was employed by the United States Forest Service, and worked in the national forests of Mississippi and Texas. Later, he was self-employed as a consulting forester for the state of Indiana and City Forester of Park Resources for Marion County and the City of Indianapolis. Bob worked as Operations Manager and later, Superintendent of Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis from 1975 until his retirement in 2000.
In 2005, Bob and his wife Karen moved to Fowler, Indiana.
Bob was a member of the Society of American Foresters, National Recreation and Parks Association, International Shade Tree Conference, American Forestry Association, and the Indiana Arborist Association. He was also a member of the International Cemetery and Funeral Association and the Indiana Cemetery Association.
Bob leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Karen Cornelius Wirsching, and their beloved cocker spaniel, Melly. Also surviving Bob, are his brothers, James Wirsching (Tammy) of Bangkok, Thailand and Rodney Wirsching of Columbus, Ohio, step children, Anthony Cortellini (Sandra Lunte) and Lea Rapier (Robert Michael), four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Bob will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
