Elder Robert Wray Williams, of Houston, Texas passed away on Wednesday May 6, 2020. The son of Robert Lee and Carolyn Florence Hardiman Oakley, he was born September 11, 1932 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He as united in marriage for 57 years to Earlene Prim Williams. As a child, he attended Indianapolis Public School #26 and then on to Crispus Attucks High School. He was employed 31 years as a custodian for United Auto Workers Union Local #933, retiring October 8, 1993.
Elder Robert Wray Williams answered the call of Christ on his life while attending The Free Church of God under then Pastor Charles Tinder. He devoted his life to the Lord and was called to preach the gospel of Christ and served as an Elder for many years in the church, before going on to pastor his own church - Jesus The Way Church. Before moving to Houston, Texas, Elder Williams' membership was with Zion Tabernacle Apostolic Faith Church under the Pastoral leadership of Dr. Thomas E. Griffith and remained so until his passing.
Elder Williams was blessed and well cared for, he was a devoted husband, father and devout God fearing man. He was a true testament of his faith. The love of Christ was exemplified throughout his life - even in his failing health.
He leaves to remember and cherish the memories of his life, his four daughters, Donna Allen, Chris Lewis-Boykin, Linda Lewis, Sheila Lewis-Jones; two sons, Terry Lewis and Darwin Lewis; two sons-in-law, Robert Allen and Lewis Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins and friends.
