Obituary of Ricky Allen Skiles
Ricky Allen Skiles, beloved husband to Michelle (“Mic”) Renee Skiles (Hogg) these past 50 years, passed away on November 29, 2023, at age 70. Rick was born in St. Petersburg, Florida, on September 3, 1953, to Naomi Ellen Walker (Frost) and Richard William Skiles. The family moved to Indianapolis in the early 1960s. Rick graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1971, attended college for a year, then went to work, eventually learning furniture repair and refinishing. He became the service manager at Gerdt Furniture in Southport, Indiana, where he remained a loyal employee and friend to the owner for many years. After Rick retired in 2000, he stayed busy working for his dear friend, Jesse Gillihan, when the two of them weren’t in a bass boat or on a golf course together. Rick was an accomplished woodworker and in his younger days enjoyed hunting. For the past 30 years he attended countless races at Indy, Atlanta, and Talladega with his brothers-in-law, Frank and Morgan, and racing friends. He was predeceased by his father, Richard William Skiles, sister Sherry Jane Richards (Skiles), brother Shelton Dale Skiles, and granddaughter Treslyn Ann Elaine Blackledge. He is survived by his loving wife, Mic, their children Joshua Allen Skiles and Renee Ellen Blackledge (Gary), sister Rita Mae Walker, brother Breland Delano Walker, his sweet mother Naomi, grandchildren Ellen Michelle Blackledge, Nicolette Renee Blackledge, Abygaile Janae Skiles, and Devin Baily Blackledge, along with many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
