81, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on June 23, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born August 24, 1937 in Indianapolis, Indiana the son of the late Esper and Nellie Viles.
He was a Korean War Veteran in the Army, a member of the American Legion Post #64, lifetime member of AMVETS and was the founding member of the Marion County Veterans Burial Team. The Marion County Veterans Burial Team preformed military honors for veterans all over the Indianapolis area for the past 30+ years. Richard was a member of True Gospel Assembly.
He is survived by his children; sons, Pete Viles and Robert Weems (Dawn); daughters, Joyce Craft, Ava McCall, and Rickie Barnett; brother, Mike Byers (Darlene); 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren on the way and a very large extended family. He is preceded in death by his wife; Barbara Ann Viles.
Visitation for Richard will be Thursday, June 27, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Family Funeral Care. Funeral services will be Friday, June 28, at 11:00 am at Family Funeral Care. Reverend Ted Conn will officiate. Burial will follow at West Newton Cemetery. The family has requested in honoring Richard's life, donations may be made to Franciscan Hospice House.
