

Lanier & Earl Malone. Peter confessed his life to Christ at a young age, where later he became an ordained
minister. He worked at Indus Wheeling Company in Indianapolis, as a paint tinter for 25+ years. Pete believed in the power of prayer, reading his bible, and spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. He loved to sing he was a member of The Gospel Travelers, and many different male choruses. He was the founder of the Nursing Home Crusaders and the Nursing Home Ministry where he
would sing and spread the word of the Lord. He was a hardworking and loving father.
Peter never met a stranger and was loved by many. He was the founder of one of many Food Pantries where he was always donating his time and resources to anyone in need. Pete always greeted you with a hug, but he would be sure to remind you of the visit that was not made.
Peter departed this life on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Arlington Place in Indianapolis, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bessie Lanier, daughter Shonie Lanier
Benson, daughter n law Cathy Mahaley, grandson Thomas Parks, siblings Albert, Jeanette, Amie, Jesse, Roberta, Reedus, Wallace, and Winston.
Peter leaves to cherish his memory with his special companion Alberta Futrell (bonus great
granddaughter Mya Wells) his children Richard Mahaley, Anthony Lanier, Brenda
Mahaley, Carolyn Bigbee (Harold), Georgia Smith (Aaron)
Siblings: Ada Mae, Louise, Patrisha, Julia, Kathy, James Eddie, Frank, Robert, and George.
Grandchildren: Richard Mahaley, Antwan Mahaley, Damien Mahaley, Brittanye Turientine, Jeremy Keets, Brandon Turientine (Martha), Byron Keets, Timothy Parks (Shadeh), Jeanene Mahaley, Jamar Bigbee(Shanise), Jasmine McClaren(Ricco), Darius Smith, Darico Lesley, Jalyn Revere(Deon), Arianna Smith, and Iyana Benson.
and a host of Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A visitation for Peter will be held Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, 1307 N Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana 46219, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Per the family, masks are required for the entire duration of services.
