Phyllis was born in Russellville, KY to Everett and Eva (Elamond) Coffman on January 8, 1941. Phyllis’ parents precede her in death. She married Thomas “Bud” Barnaby on September 20, 1980 in Indianapolis. Bud precedes her in death.
Anyone who knew Phyllis knows that Bud was perfect in her eyes. Since his passing in 2000, Phyllis was dedicated to visiting his grave every Saturday, if not more often, and leaving a red rose. She even adorned his grave with a flower blanket each Christmas.
Phyllis worked for Kappa Alpha Theta from 1992-2015 as an administrative assistant for the Fraternity and Foundation. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta and was initiated into the Alpha Chi Chapter at Purdue University. Phyllis was loved by many on staff as well as the volunteers with whom she worked.
Phyllis held true to her southern roots as evidenced by her love for NASCAR as well as the music of B.B. King. She was a local sports enthusiast, following and cheering for the Colts and Pacers every season. She enjoyed knitting and working in her garden. Her kind smile, southern drawl, and crisp white blouses will be deeply missed.
Phyllis is survived by a host of family members, including the loving family of her love, Bud.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 9, at Crown Hill Cemetery, 11:00am-1:00pm with funeral services and burial to follow at 1:00pm.
Donations may be made in Phyllis’ memory to the American Cancer Society and The Little Red Door Cancer Agency.
