Peter G. Dandridge Jr.

Mr. Peter Gordon Dandridge Jr., passed away on October 25, 2021 in
Indianapolis, IN.
Mr. Dandridge was born in Indianapolis on September 13,1931, to Mr. Peter and
Pearline Dandridge Sr., who both preceded him in death. He was educated in the Indianapolis Public Schools system and graduated from Crispus Attucks. After high school, Mr. Dandridge joined the Air Force where he was stationed in Cheyenne, Wyoming, for basic training. While in the service, Mr. Dandridge traveled to North Africa, Germany, Spain, and San Antonio, Texas. He studied logistics and administration.
Mr. Dandridge later graduated from Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas,
majoring in history. He also earned a master’s degree from The University of Texas. He spent over 15 years working for the National Starch & Chemical Company in Indianapolis. As a young man, he successfully competed in weightlifting competitions, bringing home several trophies. In his later working years, he enjoyed teaching history and providing weightlifting training to young men. Besides weightlifting, Mr. Dandridge’s other hobbies included watching boxing matches and old sitcoms and spending time with his loved ones.
He had a jovial personality and an infectious laugh that was adored by
family and friends. In his later years, upon his return to Indianapolis, he
enjoyed his annual birthday parties. In September 2021, he celebrated his 90th
birthday with a host of family and friends.
Mr. Dandridge leaves to cherish his memory, daughters Stacy and Lisa Dandridge;
nephews Lowell Bridgewater Jr. (Marilyn) and Kenneth Eugene
Bridgewater; nieces Katherine L. Bridgewater and Delores A. Buford. In
addition, he was blessed to have great nephews, great nieces and a host of
cousins. Special cousin, Kymberlee L. Brown, was considered a niece, and
assisted with his caregiving. Mrs. Barbara Sebree, a childhood friend, was loved like a sister. He also leaves to cherish his memory, Daphne Stanley Campbell (Ronald), who he considered a daughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Kenneth Bridgewater Sr., and John Will Dandridge.
